Prompt Courier is an instant messaging system designed for use in closed communities like a corporate LAN. The system is written in Java so both the client and server will run on any Java enabled platforms. Prompt Courier has the following major features implemented (with more planned):

  • Group chat (conferencing) is as easy to use as one on one chatting.
  • Chat history is automatically saved and displayed for every chat session.

  • You may wonder why you would want to use Prompt Courier when there are numerous other chat systems out there. Prompt Courier was developed to replace the use of AIM, ICQ, etc in small corporate environments. The obvious benefit of Prompt Courier over AIM, ICQ, etc. is that it is a closed system that is more free from distraction. Folks may also want to use Prompt Courier if they desire some of the extra features listed above such as simple conferencing and logging. Prompt Courier is also written in Java so it will run on many platforms. It is also open source so it won't cost any money like other LAN messaging systems.
